Unsolicited Testimonial From Happy Client

I love getting emails and hearing success stories from people who have used my system in their computer consulting business.
This email came to me from Bob Killillay of BNS Enterprises in Washington state. The subject of his email was “Unsolictied Testimonial”. Take a minute or two and read this:
To Whom It May Concern:
Today was starting out a little slow, with maintenance of my vehicles making the day a late start.
The two jobs on the books were small jobs – per my old thinking, pre-Steve Hurst coaching.
On my way to each job, I did some Steve Hurst re-think and turned $149 into $419 – an increase of $270. All of this was in service fees.

The first job was to check why a customer was not getting email. It was simply a matter of a local ISP having changed to gmail for their servers – their email address had not changed. This might have normally been a $50 charge, as it was simple and not worthy of a full $119 (special tune-up) or the $169 (full, more difficult tune-up). There were two computers – a desktop, and a Netbook. I had been out three or four times recently and charged the ‘per incident’ low charge. We all get caught in not liking to charge for very short, simple calls – they are big to the customer, small to us.
After I finished the job, I pulled out the maintenance plans that I have and suggested that he simply pre-pay the basic plan for one full year ahead – for both of his computers. It was a no-brainer to him and his wife, and they purchased the plan – my otherwise $50 for the one computer went to $253.50.
The other job was similar – while it might have been $99, as it was a pretty simple job, I suggested that we go $169 and I’ll check back in six months.
That is how the $270 increase came about.
